A Note on Infrastructure Donations:

As 'Infrastructure Donation" isn't a typical line item, we wanted to provide more detail as to what this budget item emails.

In order to place the cockfighting survivors into approved sanctuary homes, it was at times necessary for us to fund infrastructure (such as coops/runs/aviaries) for them to live in at other sanctuaries. Due to the incredible amount of trauma these birds have experienced and their genetic predisposition to be aggressive towards other male birds, it is not recommended that survivors of cockfighting live with other roosters. This made placing these birds into sanctuaries very challenging, as most sanctuaries already have at least one rooster resident who they are already caring for. As a solution to this problem, we opted to help fund infrastructure for sanctuaries that were receiving survivors so that we could maximize the number of birds getting adopted.
