Our Process
Our goal is to make adoption a simple and enjoyable experience for both you and your new family member. We will be with you every step of the way to answer any questions you have and make the transition as easy as possible!
Step One
APPLY
Be as thorough as possible in your answers. Our goal is to learn as much about you and what you are looking for in a pet so we can help you find the best fit for your family and lifestyle!
Step Two
INTERVIEW
Once your application is approved, you will be contacted for an adoption interview. Here, we can answer any questions you have, as well as let you know as much as we can about the pet’s personality, history, and needs.
Step Three
MEET
The third and final step in our adoption process is having you meet the pet in person, if possible. We encourage you to bring your other household members, as well as any pets you already have to the meet-and-greet to ensure that everyone gets along and it’s the perfect match!

This beautiful crew was among the survivors of our cockfighting case that began in the summer of 2025. After everything they had endured, they found a loving home with our now dear friend, Kim.
Kim was one of a small group of private adopters who stepped forward to give these survivors the second chance they deserved. Today, they are thriving in a home complete with their own chicken beach for the summer! We've been fortunate to receive many updates and photos along the way, some of which may or may not have brought a few happy tears!
Reflecting on the adoption, Kim shared:
"The whole rescue was meant to be. It couldn't have worked out any better. They are just fabulous little birds, and I love watching them be themselves all day, every day."

Alfie
In August 2022, little Alfie was found wandering the streets of a town in Ohio. Thankfully, he was rescued by local firefighters, and a kind-hearted Good Samaritan named Lindsey took him into her home while searching for a permanent place where he could thrive.
Lindsey reached out to us, and we were able to help connect Alfie with a sanctuary that could provide long-term care. In the meantime, he was placed with a foster family that was better equipped to meet his needs. It didn't take long for that arrangement to become an obvious "foster fail"—they fell completely in love with him and decided to make him a permanent member of the family!
As if Alfie's story couldn't get any sweeter, his adopter wanted to ensure he had a companion of his own kind. Before long, another pig named Juliet joined the family. The two quickly became inseparable and now spend their days together—whether they're napping side by side or enjoying their favorite pig wallow. We still receive updates on Alfie to this day. Alfie's adopter has also been known to change their Facebook picture to this one of Alfie!
Seeing him happy, healthy, and so deeply loved is exactly the kind of ending we hope for with every animal we help.
Wally
We were contacted about a lone goose that local residents had affectionately named Molly. For many years, Molly had a goose companion by their side, but when their friend disappeared, Molly was left all alone. Molly's human friends knew it wasn't safe living in the wild and also began noticing signs that Molly seemed lonely and withdrawn.
In November 2022, we stepped in and rescued Molly. Before long, we were able to find Molly a wonderful home with six other goose companions. It didn't take long for Molly's adopter to figure out something that was previously missed—"Molly" was actually a male! Thankfully, they were easily able to rename him to "Wally".
Wally settled into his new life beautifully and quickly became part of the flock. We know his adopters are absolutely smitten with him, but we're pretty sure the feeling is mutual—especially when it's time for his daily handful of mealworm treats! Wally now enjoys the companionship, safety, and love he deserves, and we're so grateful to have played a small part in his happy ending.
Dawn and Dory
If you've been following us for a while, then you might remember the 2022 case of "The Barn Ducks" in Smithville, OH. (You can view the story and the article on our main page or click here.)
With over 100 domestic ducks and geese that needed to be rescued from the location, there were several fosters and adopters who worked with us to get everyone safe and to their new homes has quickly as possible.
Dawn and Dory were two of the lucky ones who found a new home where they are loved and cared for... Dawn was named after the dawn of the new life that she now gets to live and Dory was named after another duck named Dory. Dory #1 was also rescued from the same situation, but was not able to overcome her time of neglect and did not survive. The adopter of Dory #2 hopes that Dory is living her life for both girls... and for all of the others who didn't survive long enough to find safe and loving homes.
Dory and Dawn now live in a flock of five along with Drake, Petal, and Jilly (who were also adopted from us in Feb of 2022!) and we get frequent updates from their adopter!

Cedar and Fern
These cuties came to us as tiny newborns after being rescued by our partners at Columbus Humane. As they grew, they started to become very bonded to each other and we knew we wouldn't be able to separate them.
We waited for over a year for the perfect application to come in... then, in March of 2022, it finally happened! It was so perfect that once they arrived in their forever home, they immediately bonded with Thumper, the other bunny in the home! The girls have free roam of the entire house and are truly living the dream!
Theo
This sweet friend was originally named Arugula and came to us with two other buns from a severe hoarding case in December of 2020. Arugula was a friendly bun and was adopted roughly six months later. We're keeping the details short because we'd like to focus on something especially important:
On June 6, 2026,.. we received the most amazing gift: a beautiful update from Arugula's adopter. She told us that Arugula has been renamed to Theo (cute!) and that he loves his greens, tunnels and kisses from his human mom!. She also told us how Theo had previously had a best bun in Baylee who passed away from a life of health issues. After Baylee passed, Theo's adopter could tell he was missing Baylee and she took on the difficult task of finding Theo another companion... but she did it! Daphne entered Theo's life and they are inseparable (along with Theo's adopter). In her update to us, she told us that they are her whole world. Little does she know that she is our whole world... just like every other adopter and supporter of ours. Here is a recent pic she sent of Theo!
